Today marks the sixth anniversary of the assassination of Officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo by two crazy would-be revolutionaries (who were also classic losers). The officers were eating lunch at a pizza restaurant when they were shot. Concealed carrier Joseph Wilcox attempted to intervene when the two murderers entered a Walmart. Unfortunately, as Wilcox was engaging the male half of the killers, he was unaware that the wife was covering her husband from a distance. Before Wilcox, who ran towards danger, could engage the male murderer, the wife shot and killed him. The wife later committed suicide during the barricade situation. SWAT killed the husband. The two losers were motivated by anti-government/police feelings and came to Nevada to participate in the Bundy standoff. Review-Journal: Las Vegas protests raise gun control questions Metro admitted that officers who killed the the "heavily armed" man outside the federal courthouse didn't have body cams. Let's hope security cameras from the courthouse captured what was going on. One crazy dude at a protest organized and lead by Leftists doesn't mean there is a problem. If the laws against murder didn't stop the piece of crap that shot Officer Mikalonis from trying that or Steven Paddock from blasting the concert, what does this idiot politician care think another law will do? Time and time again, for two hundred years, gun control laws have only affected the law-abiding. A few things of note. Metro's lobbyist Chuck Callaway isn't calling for this, notoriously anti-gun Democratic county commissioner Justin Jones is. “We can have this discussion about strollers and purses, but we ought to also be having the discussion about Metro being a partner at the Legislature in ensuring that we can protect your officers from gun violence,” Commissioner Justin Jones told Metropolitan Police Department lobbyist Chuck Callaway, who was advocating for the backpack ban and previously did not support county efforts for authority over gun law. Jones, a Democrat like all fellow commissioners, had previously argued for local gun control: He testified in favor of a bill introduced by Democratic Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui during last year’s legislative session that would have, in part, restored local governments’ authority to regulate firearms. So they want to ban firearms from the Strip/events. Following the bag ban, this will probably apply to special events, like protests and New Years' Eve. Will there be a serious study to see if this is the solution to the problem or if there even is a problem? Nope. Michael Bloomberg's money has bought and paid for an anti-gun Legislature. The premise is a stupid one. All it does is stop stupid or undetermined people from bringing guns, but that never stopped a politician. Steven Paddock shot from a hotel room in the Mandalay Bay hundreds of yard to rain bullets down inside a security perimeter. Someone with a rifle could easily kill people inside a "secure zone." The ballistic trajectory of .30 caliber rifle is over a mile. Why not do what author Matt Bracken wrote about and fire in a ballistic trajectory, sort of like artillery? Heaven help us if jihadis or rogue soldiers get their hands on a mortar. Or suicide bombers with explosives under their parkas. Or screw the large events, target people away from them. Jones' proposal is whack-a-mole hitting at the wrong holes. Note to the feds and cops reading this: Nevada Carry doesn't support the boogaloo or assassinating people. Revolution is the fantasy of a madman. All we want is to be able to enjoy the Big Special Thing without worrying about being disarmed as we walk through a dark parking garage at 2 AM or stand around the Legislature peacefully with our rifles. Remember, there was no violence at any of the pro-gun/conservative protests. It was the Leftists that started this. Will Washoe County glom on? When firearms were banned from school grounds in the '80s because gang members were coming to high schools armed, colleges jumped on the bandwagon because they wanted to, not because there was a problem. There is the very real danger of a "narrow" infringement growing beyond just NYE and protests. Surely some casinos are salivating at disarming customers, which will absolutely piss off the hundreds of thousand of gun owners in the valley. You think locals we're PO'd about having to pay for parking? While these changes are not needed, at the very least the proposed change needs to specify limited areas and duration as well as permitting at a minimum legal concealed carry. A federal court might actually side with people that carrying firearms at a protest is protected political speech. Any wider ban would certainly result in successful legal challenge under the Nevada and federal constitutions. The state constitution is quite specific about the right to bear arms. Hold your nose and vote Republican. It's the only way to save our rights and our freedom. Some of this comes from law enforcement. The rest has been gleaned from social media. Google RUMINT and open source intelligence. Supposedly, organized protests will again occur in Las Vegas Friday-Sunday. Friday 5 PM: 951 W Lake Mead (Kianga Isoke Park). A march will be included (not sure where). Saturday 5 PM: The organizers will release the location one hour prior to the protest. This is to stymie any resistance/police response until the last minute. (The secrecy is concerning because it may indicate they want to do something dangerous). Apparently, Walmarts are to be specifically targeted. One in particular is the one near Fiesta Casino. So be prepared for Walmarts to be looted and/or closed. Some are stating that for protests in Kingman, AZ, people are being bussed in from Phoenix, CA, and NV. Review-Journal Thursday, 3:30 AM. Las Vegas (southwest). A car with two men in it comes over to a house. The driver gets out and argues with the homeowner, before the driver pulls a gun on the homeowner. The homeowner shoots the driver in the garage. A passenger gets out of the car and the passenger and the homeowner shoot at each other before the passenger runs away. The driver is dead, the passenger is in jail, and the homeowner is not. This appears to have been part of a feud of some sort. Based on the fact the homeowner was approached by the driver and that the homeowner was not arrested, at this time I am classifying this as a defensive gun use unless we get countermanding information. Review-Journal: Clark County considers ban on backpacks at protests after violence The county already bans bags at New Years' Eve to prevent people from smuggling in bombs (among other things). What they cannot do, thanks to preemption, is ban firearms from special events. What I believe we will see in 2021 is a bill that would allow Clark County to put some restrictions on carrying firearms during special events. This would allow them to ban guns "legally" at special events, protests, or places like the Strip, etc. The regulation would be limited in scope to what would allow police to use carrying a gun to tell the sheep from the wolves. Las Vegas is hurting economically. In 2019, NSSF threatened to pull SHOT Show from Las Vegas if preemption was repealed (allowing Clark County to ban assault weapons). The NSSF would certainly follow through if they did that again, causing devastating blow to the convention traffic for years to come. Casinos would loose money and the unions actually opposed the bill for that very reason. With all the sudden focus on gun ownership, going full retard on gun control is a sucker's move. There isn't enough money in the Democrat Party to buy all the votes. Many Democrat voters have just woken up in the past few months to what a con-job gun control is. Futhermore, making downtown or the Strip a "gun free zone." Is going to be a non-starter. Even with our retarded Supreme Court, I can't see them allowing public streets to be declared "gun free" 24/7 because reasons. "Every citizen has the right to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes." Nevada State Constitution, Article 1, Section 11 So be advised; if it happens, you read it here first. In 2019, the watered-down preemption proposal was just to apply to Clark County itself. Plus, in 2017 Sisolak and the county commissioned whined that preemption kept them from passing a virtue-signal ban on bump fire stocks. They have already telegraphed their hand. Of course these idiots forget that the last terrorist attack here involved a dude shooting outside the security perimeter, so... Fox 5 on Facebook "'Those militia members, whatever you want to call them, carrying AR15s and AK47s, if these young black men that were out here protesting would have been doing that these past few days, what do you think would have happened?' Gov. Sisolak said in response to a columnist’s comments that he supported the BLM protests but not the protests outside the governor’s mansion over COVID-19 closures.'" Maybe young black men would like to openly carry their firearms? California banned loaded open carry in 1968 after Black Panthers dared to exercise their rights. The legislators in Sacramento got right scared by seeing armed black men. Heck, it took until 2015 for North Las Vegas to stop harassing minorities for openly carrying. Open carry protests are peaceful. The gathering in Carson City was peaceful. So was Richmond and the events in Texas during 2013-2016. This is nothing but grandstanding by a Democrat upset that armed citizens dare assert their Second Amendment right. Vote Republican. Your freedom depends on it. This is a personal account from local social media. Source is more trusted than most, but I have not verified this. The story is what neighbors in Summerlin did after hearing about the planned riot/looting at Downtown Summerlin. Ok I was not going to post this as I’m sick of the lies on social media but all of you need to hear what happened here last night. At about 4pm we started getting notices that our outside shopping distract Downtown Summerlin was suddenly closed and evacuated. About an hour later we saw online postings shared through the community that said the hell with downtown Las Vegas let’s go to downtown Summerlin and loot and let’s go to the local neighborhoods and destroy them. About 400 heavily armed police showed up and blocked the Downtown Summerlin district and started covering the surrounding streets where we live. We saw postings online that specifically called out our neighborhoods for attack. Residents were terrified we all have seen what’s happening on TV etc. as a neighborhood we took action. We organized and set up a watch on the Main Street from downtown into our three neighborhoods. Yes we were armed and heavily armed but we kept the weapons in our cars. A police officer came by and asked if we were locals. We said yes, she asked if we were protecting the neighborhood we said yes. She asked if we were armed we said yes heavily and she asked open carry and we said yes. She then proceeded to tell what to do. She said we were targets of the antifa they were going to try and enter the neighborhood and burn as many cars as possible and damage and loot as many homes as they could. She asked us to tell everyone get cars off the streets and take in anything that could be used as a weapon against a home like potted plants in planters etc. She told they had found huge piles of bricks all around downtown and our neighborhood as well as they arrested someone setting up a food and water camp in the desert nearby. She said the road was heavily covered by the sheriffs department but if we saw a mob coming to us that meant something bad happened and do not let them into the neighborhood. She was serious. She also said they may try to flank us and come around the back way so keep our eyes open. As we waited and watched we noticed the typical antifa punks in their black outfits and helmets. One kept driving by in a car another was on a skateboard and another on a bike. We had another walking they were waking through the neighborhoods and we had lookouts in all three. 704 homes banded together to protect our families and property. We finally decided after bike boy and walking guy made five passes to show them what we got. At that point we took out our weapons and held them down or strapped them to our shoulders. We got their attention that’s for sure. Within a few minutes they disappeared. At this point I got notice that one of these peaceful protesters was filling up 8 pallets of glass bottles at the chevron station with gas up the street. People realized he was making a lot of Molotov cocktails and confronted him and he took off. Soon after our show of force the protesters went to a Main Street and got picked up and left except a few who went to nearby neighborhood and attempted some home break ins and were caught. […] These were not right wing militias or any of them other crap you always blame these were hard core anti America socialists intent on causing as much damage as possible. This is not TV or social media I was there and I am […] We did not go looking for antifa we did it move from the entrance to our neighborhoods. We stood there ready to protect our families friends and homes. Every one of these antifa we saw all dressed the same and all had backpacks and we knew they had bricks in those backpacks. In a split second one of us could have been hit with one of those bricks and it would kill you. The only reason it did not happen is they knew they would be shot. I am disgusted by those on social media saying these are peaceful protestors being harassed by the police. Grow the (fack) up and stop the BS. One Molotov cocktail would take out multiple homes in Vegas in the heat this place is a tinder box. […] So you want to start an armed neighborhood watch? Here are some thoughts and legal points to keep in mind. First, be very careful putting yourself in a position where you may be exposed to violence. Armed neighbors standing around the entrance to their neighborhood as a deterrent as one thing, but engaging rioters/looters is another. It’s best to let the police do the dangerous work. Remember that engaging rioters/looters is a risky business. We’ve already seen people savagely beaten and killed for trying to intervene. If things look froggy and you have to get involved, a helmet and googles are a good ideal. Keep behind solid cover. If you are at home, try not to go outside or leave your yard. Never breach your perimeter if you don’t have too. Contact your local police/sheriff’s station to let them know what’s going on. And for heaven’s sake, don’t shoot people for theft or vandalism. This does not constitute, nor should be implied as, legal advice. Private Person's ArrestYou may make a private person's arrest, at any time of the day or night without a warrant, when:
You may ask others for assistance to help you make the arrest and you may re-capture the arrestee if they escape. NRS 171.104 Arrest defined; by whom made. CaveatsYou cannot arrest someone unless truly justified. You must reasonably believe them to be guilty of a crime (no hunches), etc. You can be arrested and sued if you illegally arrest or detain someone. Don’t claim to be police. As Las Vegas begins to re-open to tourism, images show Fremont Street being fenced off and metal detectors installed. This will leave tourists disarmed and defenseless against There's a lot of questions I'm not inclined at the moment to research and answer. Fremont Street is still ostensibly public property, so legally, the city cannot ban firearms. Even if they could ban concealed firearms, they can't ban openly carried firearms. No one in their right mind should be going downtown while rioting is going on, especially if disarmed. I'm sure that the city of Las Vegas will claim some ridiculous bullshit legal excuse to do it and dare anyone to fight it in court (and the robed idiots on the Supreme Court would probably find some way to justify it too). And of course, in 2021 there will be a round of legislation to fuck over armed citizens in the tourist areas to leave them prey for terrorists and criminals. Remember, Steven Paddock killed 59 and injured 400 more from shooting outside a security perimeter into one. |
