Strip Violence Mostly California's Fault

We know that COVID-19 and low rates have brought a lot of low-class trash into Las Vegas, and a lot of it is from California. Maybe blaming it all on our western neighbor is a little hyperbolic, but it's probably true and these two articles from the Review-Journal don't help.

The first article's title says it all: "Police: Gunman in Strip shooting just released from prison." "A south-central Los Angeles man" two-months out of prison for gun crimes was arrested for a shooting  on the Strip. We have a felon, carrying a firearm, with a past history of breaking gun control laws. Hmm, seems like gun control laws don't work? 

Some other dudes, part of a large group on a party bus that was here from California for someone's birthday, got involved in two shootings. Disturbingly, from the second incident the suspects followed victims on foot and in vehicles for 15 minutes, some of them even taking up "overwatch" positions in a parking garage.

This problem exists because low hotel rates have drawn scumbags from California like rats flocking to a new trash pile. This isn't Las Vegas' doing; it's the product of totally wrong COVID-19 shutdowns devastating our economy so much that casinos have to drop rates to get people to visit. Unfortunately, that brings in the poor, low quality humans that couldn't afford this place normally (not that they really can now). 

But of course, guns will be blamed. If it wasn't for that evil ghost gun, the guy from Story #1 wouldn't have been able to get a gun! Ha! And of course the solution will be to disarm people on the Strip because government regulations only come in one-size-fits-all.

If they want to ban guns on the Strip, they need to exempt those with carry permits. Not because I support that kind of thing, but at least the government would be admitting we aren't the problem and that good people do have the right to protect themselves. Plus it wouldn't be a bad, blanket solution that penalizes everyone for something that isn't our fault. 

Want to fix this problem? Stop letting criminals out of jail early and give them the sentences that are on the books; no early time, no light sentences. Stop killing the economy and making people desperate and crazy. Normalize the economy and the tourists come back. Rates go up and the rats will go back to California. While you're sending the California criminals back, take a certain carpetbagging legislator who loves gun control with you.
